The nucleus accumbens is active in aticipation of an
aggressive encounter
Ferrari P. F. et al. ( Accumbal dopamine and serotonine
in anticipation of the next aggressive episode in rats. Eur. J. of Neurosci.
17, 371-378, 2003) using chronically inserted microdialysis probes to
measure the levels of extraneuronal serotonin (5-HT) and dopamine in the
nucleus accumbens in rats demonstrate changes in anticipation of an aggressive
encounter.
We think the authors
overestimate the range of their results.
