Gating of the gaba-a receptor channel
HOW AGONIST BINDING LEADS TO OPENING THE PORE: COMPELLING EVIDENCE
Kash T. L. et al. (Coupling of agonist binding to channel gating in the GABA-A receptor, Nature 421, 272-275, 2003) demonstrate that for gating of the GABA-A receptor channel are crucial electrostatic interactions between residues of the extracellular domain and the linker between two transmembrane domains.
Although the paper could appear too technical to those who are not expert in protein chemistry, we suggest of reading the full text that we found interesting and effectively illustrated.
